Our Proud History

Grandpa Clyde Alexander PacePace Furniture was founded in 1919 by my grandfather, Clyde Alexander Pace, Sr. At age 19, Clyde had an innovative spirit and great imagination. Nothing stood in his way, and we still enjoy some of his patented ideas.

Clyde, Sr. wasn't the only family member with vivid ideas - he passed this inventive spirit to his children, regardless of gender. Was this something that was taught, or was it a common trait passed down through the generations? I believe that this is a gift, or a talent given to the Pace family. Clyde Sr. was also a perfectionist! He expected nothing less and was tough to work for if you were not of his caliber. His adage was, "do it right the first time", which continues today. Clyde's forte was custom-built cabinets and from time to time he would build classic mahogany boats.

In the 1960's, Clyde's son and my father, Bob, assumed the challenge of the day to day duties. Bob's passion for wood and his skillful hands have made some of the finest wooden works ever seen; his workmanship becomes family heirlooms. Today at age 75, Bob is still turning out amazing new pieces of wooden history.

I have been the proprietor of the business since 1984. As a young boy, I had the privilege of watching my grandfather and father using wood lathes and a band saw was my first introduction to power tools. Many hours have been spent turning various shapes on the lathe and cutting intricate parts on the numerous power tools.

Furniture touch-ups became my passion; the more difficult the job, the more intriguing it is for me. Touching up fine furniture and museum pieces are not for the neophyte. This requires a tremendous amount of patience and knowledge. My skills have been challenged on many occasions. One of my most recent conquests was a museum piece from around 1000 A.D. The client was thrilled with the outcome.

For many years, Pace Furniture has been the premiere restoration company in Atlanta, and Clyde, Bob, and I have set the standard in the industry. It is not uncommon for celebrities, sports figures and senators to call on us for our expertise. When you enter our studio we will treat you with the utmost respect and will take care of your property as if it were our own. If you are looking for the right people to take care of restoring your family heirlooms or fine furniture this is the place. The Pace family is here to serve you.

"I do business the old fashioned way - with a handshake and my family's name and reputation on the line."
